COURSE DESCRIPTIONSWEB PAGE DESIGN - LEVEL TWO: (11 lessons)
This module will continue where Level One leaves off. Among the topics studied are:
WEB PAGE DESIGN - LEVEL THREE: (8 lessons)
This module will concentrate on the more advanced features of HTML with
a look at HTML 4.0, along with a thorough study of Cascading Style Sheets. Among the
topics studied are:
XHTML: (3 lessons)
XHTML is the current web standard and addresses the new browser technologies that is sweeping
the market. Today web pages are being viewed in browsers through cell and mobile phones,
cars, televisions, plus a host of hand-held wireless devices and communicators.
XHTML also begins to address the need for those with disabilities (such as the blind
and visually impaired) to access the internet. Thus web pages written in XHTML
will allow them to be viewed on a wide range of browsers and internet platforms.
JAVASCRIPT MODULES:
You can make your web pages come alive with JavaScript! With JavaScript,
you can extend HTML to do all kinds of things. You can learn to create
animated text or graphics, change background colors, spew random phrases
at the click of a button, work in a digital clock, create scrolling text
in a box or on the status line at the bottom of your browser screen, show
off your artwork in an interactive portfolio, change images without reloading
the web page, etc., etc. There is virtually no limit to what you can do to
spruce up a website!
JAVASCRIPT - LEVEL ONE: (6 lessons)
JAVASCRIPT - LEVEL TWO: (9 lessons)
This modules continues where Level One leaves off and takes a look at the more
advanced features of JavaScript, including Dynamic HTML (DHTML) which requires a knowledge
of JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets.
WORLD WIDE WEB MODULE: (4 lessons)
This shorter module will concentrate on getting your website ready for submissions to the
search engines. The main emphasis will be on:
CGI/PERL MODULE: (8 lessons).
Filling out forms are becoming increasingly popular on the web. HTML cannot process this
form data and so other methods to process this data are required such as CGI and Perl
scripting. This module will introduce you to web scripting in Perl to process data collected in
a form that a visitor or client fills out. You will learn how to process the form data
in a CGI script created in Perl and have the results sent to an email address, to the browser
screen, and to a data file on your host
server.
WEB PAGE DESIGN SOFTWARE MODULE: (6 lessons)
Now that you are very familiar with HTML, it is time to study creating
websites with the aid of software. In this lesson we will create
fictional websites using the features of Flash, FrontPage, CoffeeCup and Dreamweaver.
Flash is a incredible program that allows you to enter a whole new world
in web page design limited only by your imagination. Flash is extremely
powerful, allowing you to create animations, including interactive animations
that are out of this world! We will also study designing websites with the aid of web page development software
such as FrontPage, CoffeeCup and Dreamweaver. With your expertise in HTML,
you will be able to use both HTML and the software to your advantage and tweak your
pages to just the way you want them.
